What Traveling to Thailand Taught Me

One of Peter Langlois, PhD.’s top five passions is traveling to interesting places — and this past January, he spent an unforgettable month in Thailand.
His journey began in bustling Bangkok, where he joined a small group tour that took him through the historic temples and ancient sites of Ayutthaya and Sukhothai, ending in the charming city of Chiang Mai.
One of the highlights?
Feeding and bathing elephants at a local sanctuary — a truly humbling experience.
Peter then spent two weeks volunteering to help teach English in a northern village, immersing himself in local culture and building meaningful connections.
The adventure wrapped up in the south, sailing on a catamaran through the stunning Andaman Sea, snorkeling vibrant reefs, and relaxing on the breathtaking islands of Koh Phi Phi and Phuket.
Peter shares this story not just to recount an incredible trip but to emphasize the importance of living out your passions — especially in retirement.
